Look Into My Eyes

I used to receive these cryptic emails in my yahoo inbox a few years ago. It was emails sent to a girl named yasemen something. My address was yasmeen86 at yahoo.com so every week I would get emails from her friends. The emails looked cryptic because they had the Latin alphabet but the letters were all jumbled up in an unusual way, like a code. And some of the letters like c and s were a little different, it had a little underline under the letter and the letter u had two dots over it. So anyways, I got these emails over and over again and became annoyed because it began to junk up my inbox.

Ok so fastforward to another lifetime. In turkey my name YASMEEN, translates into the Turkish name YASEMEN. This is how the convo goes..

Someone introducing me: “This is yasmeen, she is from India but born and raised in America”
The new person : “ Ohh, yasmeen nice to meet you….in Turkish your name…yasemen!

They are really excited at this point. By the 20th time, I’m like yes…I know.. Hahah..ha.
Ok! Really weird, in America its like yasmeen… Jasmine?? Noo yasmeen. In Turkish ..yasemen?? Noooo yasmeen!! Then they tell me that it means flower. OH REALLY. NO WAY.

But they continue to pronounce my name the Turkish way. And as usual I don’t care and I let them. Its better than being called jasmine (eww cringe).

Sooo as it turns out, In turkey in the early 19th century Atta Turk took the Turkish language which used the Arabic characters and replaced it with the Latin alphabet, with a few exceptions such as the letter c, s, and u. I am pretty familiar with the Turkish alphabet now and I now realize that I had been receiving emails in Turkish all along from people who thought I was a Turkish girl named yasemen! That is like receiving emails from the future. I mean, people thought I was a Turkish girl named yasmen, and now I kinda am.

Everything totally happens for a reason.
